Homemade Cilantro Garlic Hummus

I never use cook books. I usually just eyeball everything. After creating it I go back and make it again and measure everything out.

Tonight I had the itch to make hummus. Not just any kind though. I LOVE cilantro and garlic so I figure, why not make hummus out of it.

Here is what I used:

  • 2 cans of garbanzo beans
  • 1/2 bunch of cilantro
  • about 1 cub of olive oil
  • 3 cloves of garlic (depending on how much you like garlic
  • salt
  • food processor or blender
  • lemon juice (or 2 lemons)

  1. Drain 1 can of garbanzo beans
  2. Remove stems from cilantro and toss in trash
  3. Add beans and cilantro into the food processor/blender
  4. Add about a quarter cup of the olive oil,1 clove of garlic, and lemon juice (i squeezed 1 lemon into it)
  5. Blend on the puree setting
  6. Add some more olive oil, 1 garlic clove, more lemon juice
  7. Add salt to taste
  8. Blend on the puree setting
  9. Repeat steps 5-8 until you get the texture you like.

*** You may not need all of the olive oil. It makes the texture creamy

*** Depending on your love for garlic, you can add more or add less

*** As I blended, I tasted it. Added the salt & lemon juice when needed.

This can be modified in many ways. You may create your own yummy recipes.
